Fifty years of ATE: from Trivandrum in 1976 to eleven offices
How a small Trivandrum travel company became a group with offices across South India and the UAE, and what hasn't changed.
Airtravel Enterprises opened its doors in Trivandrum in 1976, founded by E M Najeeb with one ambition: to make travel as effortless as having your own pair of wings. Fifty years on, ATE has eleven offices, eight in India and three in the UAE, and looks after families, pilgrims and companies across South India and the Gulf.
From Trivandrum outwards
The first decades were built on Kerala's links with the Gulf: flights, visas and family travel for people working abroad. As South India's cities grew, so did ATE, with offices in Kochi, Calicut, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai, and later in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Relationships that still matter
Decades of airline, hotel and consulate relationships translate into access: fares that aren't published, rooms when hotels are full and appointments that appear when they're needed. More than 100 awards from airlines, tourism boards and trade bodies are a record of those relationships.
People who stay
Many of our consultants have been with ATE for fifteen or twenty years. When you call, you often speak to someone who knows your family's travel history.
What hasn't changed
One principle has held since 1976: we promise what we can do, and we do what we promise. It's the simplest of our values and the one clients mention most.
