Interest in the Masai Mara has more than doubled in three years, and the safari lives up to it. From July to October, the great migration brings vast herds of wildebeest and zebra across the Mara River, with lions and crocodiles waiting.

Five days covers the Mara and Lake Nakuru; eight adds Amboseli's elephants with Kilimanjaro behind. Migration dates book out early, so plan from April.

When is the best time to see the migration?

July to October, with river crossings most likely in August and September. Exact timing depends on the rains, so we keep two or three nights in the Mara.

Is a Kenya safari suitable for families?

Yes, for children old enough to enjoy long game drives (usually seven and up). Many lodges have family tents and pools.
